The Rosenberg self-esteem scale is often used in social science research, but it is also a handy tool for anyone to work out their own levels of self-esteem and how they feel about themselves.

How Does the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale Work?

Fundamentally, the Rosenberg self-esteem scale is based on a series of statements that the respondent considers. Five of the statements are worded positively, while five are worded negatively. By reviewing an individual’s responses to the statements, it’s possible to determine that person’s feelings of self-esteem and self-worth. The Rosenberg scale is widely trusted and valued in various industries and is a helpful tool for many people in different professions.

How Does the Rosenberg Scale Scoring Work?

Each of the responses to the given statements is weighted, with strongly agree scoring 3 and strongly disagree scoring 0 (for the positive statements), while the valence is reversed for the negative statements. When the test is complete, you can ascertain whether you have low self-esteem or not. The test is scored out of 30, and receiving a score of 15 or lower is indicative of low self-esteem.

Why is the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale Important?

There are many instances in which ascertaining a person’s self-esteem is helpful, particularly from a psychological perspective. How an individual views themselves and their contribution to the world around them is crucial, as low self-esteem can lead to a range of mental health challenges, including depression. By determining a patient’s feelings of self-esteem, professionals are able to offer the required treatment and help people feel better about themselves.

But equally, it’s helpful for everyone to take stock of how they feel about themselves in the present moment. A lot of the time, we subconsciously feel down or have negative thoughts about the world around us, and taking the Rosenberg self-esteem test is a good way to have a reality check and to really think about how we view ourselves in the present moment.

What Should You Do with Your Results?

When you have completed the Rosenberg self-esteem test, you will need to make a note of your score. The whole purpose of the test is to indicate your self-esteem, and if you have scored lower than 15, it’s a good idea to take some action. There are lots of ways that you can increase your feelings of self-esteem, but you may want to seek professional help if you’re feeling particularly low or are struggling with your mental health alongside a negative score.

Ultimately, knowing how you feel about yourself is an excellent indicator of self-worth, and the Rosenberg self-esteem scale is the perfect way to arrive at an accurate score. Additional information: https://www.selfesteem2go.com/rosenberg-self-esteem-scale.html
